Unfortunately, those same licensing deals sometimes cause songs to be unable to play, and the service doesn’t acknowledge it, making the user manually move to the next song. What makes this work so well is that it allows you to choose how wide you want to vary this automatically created playlist. If you select a song, MOG immediately compiles a list of songs to follow it, unless you turn this feature off, or are in the middle of a playlist. The feature set of MOG is rather amazing, mostly because so many of the features work seamlessly, and the rest are a breeze. To the top right corner is a search bar, which does as its title suggests, and searches the music content, in real time. It’s well done, and has options to share to Twitter and Facebook. On the top is a playlist bar very similar to a previously reviewed website, “ We Are Hunted.” As you move around the site, the bar only changes with the song, allowing you to zoom around and find new music to add to a playlist while listening to a current playlist. These include “New Releases”, “Editor’s Picks”, “Top Artists”, “Top Albums”, and “Top Tracks”. On the left is a simple bar showing how much more music you can listen to, like a fuel bar, as well as menus for finding new music. Despite not looking for guides, or anything similar, it was easy to find a way to different tracks and artists. The interface for MOG is simple, and well thought out.

Simple and painless, the app will upload folders you specify to the google music player.įrom there, the interface is just like your average media software. Uploading the music is as easy as downloading a small app and putting in your account info. Google has really hit this one out of the park. What Google Music brings to the table is that it does not come with a full library of songs or radio streams, but instead stores up to 20 gigabytes of your music on the web, uploading it automatically with a small application for your personal computer. Websites such as Radiotuna, Pandora, Grooveshark, MOG, and theSixtyOne, among multiple others, have all done this with varying degree of success. This in itself is not all that fascinating. Google Music takes the idea of a desktop media player, shakes it around a bit, adds a few new pieces, takes a few away, and leaves you with a simple music player on the web.
